While the business case for contactless payment has yet to be proved anywhere, Japan’s largest mobile telco, NTT DoCoMo, is moving boldly ahead with plans to launch its own credit brand on its contactless wallet phones. Banks and credit card issuers in Japan and abroad are no doubt looking on with roughly equal parts of curiosity and dread.
